CORONAVIRUS INFO - medical insurance for foreign students

To whom it may concern,

I present an answer (consulted with Polish Minister of Health) to the question regarding the COVID-19 threat:

Are foreign students obliged to have insurances covering their healthcare in case of a suspected coronavirus infection to recieve help?

Sanitary-epidemiological treatment (including medical examinations, lab examinations as well as other specialist research and consultations performed to provide epidemiological supervision to detect biological pathogenic factor or to confirm a recognition of an infectious disease) performed on people whom are infected or suspected to be infected with an infectious disease are free. Such costs (regarding those who have insurances) are covered by NFZ. In case of those who don’t have insurances – costs are being covered by the part of budget managed by the Minister of Health.

Regarding medical treatment provided to combat infections and infectious diseases (SARS-CoV-2 being an example), like obligatory hospitalization, obligatory quarantine or epidemiological supervision as well as any other treatment required due to said infections and infectious diseases are covered by NFZ (regarding those who have insurances). In case of those without insurances – costs are being covered by the part of budget managed by the Minister of Health.
