4th edition of the international conference in the series Media in America, America in Media

We would like to  invite you to the 4th edition of the international conference in the series Media in America, America in Media organized by the Department of English and American Studies and the Department of Media Communication of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University under the patronage of the Polish Rhetorical Society. The conference in online format will be held on March 23-24, 2023 on the Teams platform.

We are pleased to announce that the guest lecture will be given by Alexa Weik von Mossner from the University of Klagenfurt. She is a renowned researcher of cultural phenomena on human-environment relationships from a cognitive perspective, with a special focus on affect and emotion. Her first novel, Fragile, was published in January 2023.

We invite you to share your perspective on how contemporary media conceptualize the human condition in the 21st century and how they are changing traditional approaches to cognitive, mental, physical and emotional responses to the rapidly changing human environment.

Applications for 20-minute presentations in English should be submitted via an online form by February 15, 2023. The event is free of charge. Details are presented at https://mediaameryka.wixsite.com/umcs.

Publication: We are pleased to announce collaborations with two peer-reviewed open access journals, Res Rhetorica and New Horizons in English Studies. The deadline for submission of full articles is May 31, 2023. Post-conference volumes are scheduled for publication in 2023 (NHES) and 2024 (RR).

Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the conference, the invitation is extended to representatives of all academic disciplines dealing with the subject of media "in" America and "about" America.
