Doctoral procedure

In Year 4 (no later than semester 7) of the programme, your doctoral procedure should be initiated and the doctoral committee established – this will require that:

  • your Ph.D. dissertation is sufficiently advanced;
  • you have fulfilled the formal requirements of having published or submitted for publication at least one scholarly work: a monograph (rare but possible) or (more likely) an article in a peer-reviewed journal of at least country-wide circulation or in reviewed proceedings of an international conference.

When your dissertation is completed, it will be reviewed by two external reviewers. You will also be required to take three doctoral exams:

  • in the area of your expertise;
  • in an additional subject (philosophy, logic, sociology etc.) of your choice;
  • in a foreign language (including English), other than your first language.

Once the reviews of your dissertation arrive, a date will be set for a public defense.
