cordially invite you to the expert debate
Wetlands and human wellbeing - Life Interlaced: Chełm Alkaline Fens

organized as part of the World Wetlands Day 2024 celebrations

Annually celebrated on the anniversary of the Ramsar Convention's adoption, World Wetlands Day is an excellent opportunity to highlight the key role and importance of wetland areas as global and local climate and water cycle regulators, especially important for the biodiversity conservation. This year, we wish to focus on wetlands on a local scale, specifically addressing the conservation issues of the ecologically valuable Chełm Alkaline Fens.
The main goal of the meeting is to create a space for exchanging knowledge and experiences in the field of research, use, identification of threats, and challenges related to the effective protection and management of these ecosystems in the context of complex human-nature interactions. We also hope that participation in World Wetlands Day will contribute to establishing and strengthening cooperation between various institutions and organizations committed to preserving the values and functions of ecologically important wetlands.

The expert debate will take place on February 2nd (Friday), from 9:00 AM in the E. Romer Auditorium of the Faculty of Earth Sciences and Spatial Management, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (Lublin, Kraśnicka Avenue 2d)
