Athena: two virtual courses in Economics

We are pleased to announce that Athena is offering two virtual courses in Economics this spring semester (2023/2024).

Economic Aspects of Globalisation

Starting on February 19 (10 hrs)

The aim of the lecture is to introduce the various dimension of international economics: trade under imperfect competition; factor movements and trade (migration and free movement of capital), trade and the environnement.

The student will know:

  • How trade occurs with scale economy; why industries agglomeration in a given region or city (Silicon Valley)
  • Trade models with monopolistic competition
  • The impact of migration for sending and receiving countries
  • How trade impact the environment

European Economics

Starting on March 11 (10 hrs)

This is an introductory course to the economics of the European integration. The course has two objectives:

  • to improve your knowledge about European economics, in general
  • to increase your ability to analyze economic policy questions related to European integration, European Union (EU) enlargement, or the impact of Brexit and Covid-19 on the EU.
