For candidates entitled to study on a different basis

The following groups of international candidates may undertake studies under different regulations than Polish citizens:

  • candidates from non-EU/EFTA member countries, who do not meet the requirements to undertake and pursue studies under the regulations pertaining to Polish citizens;
  • Citizens of the EU, Swiss Confederation or EFTA (European Free Trade Association) countries – signatories of the European Economic Area Agreement and their family members, who chose to undertake studies in Poland under different regulations than those pertaining to Polish citizens (e.g. as Polish Government scholarship holders);
  • holders of a valid Polish Charter (in Polish: Karta Polaka), who resigned from study on the terms applicable to Polish citizens (e.g. they will study as Polish Government scholarship holders).

Foreigners who cannot be admitted under the regulations pertaining to Polish citizens, yet they have the right to study on the basis of:

  1. The decision of the Rector of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University;
  2. International treaties and the rules stated in them;
  3. The rules stated in the Agreements between foreign subjects and the university;
  4. The decision of a respective Minister of Science and Higher Education or an appropriate minister mentioned in the art. 33 sec. 2 of the Polish Law on Higher Education.

The above mentioned foreigners can study, as well as participate in scientific researches and development programmes:

  1. as beneficiaries of Polish government scholarship;
  2. on a fee-paying basis;
  3. free of charge and without the right to scholarships;
  4. as beneficiaries of scholarships from their country of origin, receiving a full tuition waiver.
