The Faculty of Economics, established in 1965, comprises two institutes: the Institute of Economics and Finance, and the Institute of Management, which consist of ten departments and seven sections (chairs).

The Faculty’s academic and research work covers a broad range of problems, inter alia financial markets and finance management, accountancy systems and public finance, social and economic problems in economics, managing businesses and institutions, managing social capital etc. The teachers work as advisors and experts for the public finance sector units (commissioned by government and self-government agencies: in the area of activity-based budgeting, long-term financial forecasting and planning, and responsibility for breaking public finance discipline) and for various business entities (economic counseling and tax consulting in the area of broad-ranging problems of business management). The Faculty offers a broad array of services to cooperate with businesses and institutions: they cover most of contemporary economic issues, in particular project management, quality management, appraisal of companies, advisory services in the process of making a company public, analysis and designing of remuneration systems, processes of business restructuring, and managing changes; implementation of ecological innovations, market analysis and development of marketing strategies, implementation of information systems, logistics process analysis, etc.

Regular national scientific conferences are organized which are devoted to the functioning of financial markets, public finance and finance law, and to the broad concept of problems of quality management and marketing. There is great interest in the subject matter of these conferences on the part of scholars from leading universities and schools of economics, Polish and foreign businesses, and students, for whom special workshops and symposia are held. The Faculty also hosts regular national conferences of marketing and finance departments, and co-hosts two regular international conferences: MakeLearn (with Slovenian partners) and TIIM – Technology, Innovation, and Industrial Management (with the partner from Thailand).

Student government is highly active at the Faculty of Economics, the students having the opportunity to develop their interests by participating in the work of a number of scientific clubs and in the international exchange program Erasmus+.
